View Full Version : Game on Steam not loading

I brought Racedriver: GRID off Steam this morning.
It finished downloading, and when I tried to run it, it pops up the screen saying "Preparing to launch GRID" then that goes after a very short time. The games does NOT load.
Is there any reason it might do this? I read that the antivirus I use sometimes affects Steam... :S Not had a problem with it before, so I dunno! The antivirus is NOD32 btw...
Anyone who can help, please post! This is pissing me off now!
Cheers.

Delete the local files in steam or just go to the "steamapps" in programfiles, delete it then restart steam.

Before re-installing the game, I recommend you do the following:
1. Right click the game from the "My Games" tab
2. Click properties
3. Go to the "Local Files" tab
4. Click "Verify integrity of game cache..."

Okay. I'll do that, but what does it do?

It just checks that all the files are there, and in the right place.
I have just checked the Steam GRID forums and apparently lots of people are having the same problem, click here (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=414) to see lots of threads about it. Some people seem to have found a fix for themselves, but lots of people are still unable to launch it :(.

I wouldn't buy non-valve games on Valve TBH. It's just an extra thing that could go wrong, plus you don't get a DVD for fast reinstalls/play without internet etc...

You can play them offline :) (I think...)
I think next time, I'll pay the extra few quid to get the game DVD instead. Just www.play.com were sold out and I wanted it before i34! lol
Re-downloaded it. Did exactly the same thing. Now doing what Chalex suggested.
Will edit with the outcome.
