Well as some know I've taken up RC Helicopter flying and I've finally got round to recording and posting up a video of me messing about on the simulator (regarded as the most realistic thing you can get for your computer) and I'm going onto the real thing this Saturday hopefully, but with a £50 cost if I stuff the Heli.

This also slightly resembles Darkpideon's flying on PR, however he would crash pretty quickly :p.

it's the lag it tell you, THE LAG :D
I do land some of the time but I mainly take the barrel rolls a little too far..

The result of you flying the Cobra:

As I said before THE LAG! :)
if you would trust me for once and get in the co-pilot seat you could see that i'm not that bad.

then crash after a crazy stunt/too many barrel rolls close to the ground :D

I found that the video improved greatly if I turned the volume right down. :p

Buty seriously, that is stupidly realistic. Is the scenery just a photo?

My cousin has the same program and flies RC Helis quite a lot, he's pretty good. It's just photos Chaz, you can't move from the spot you are so it's just a big curcular room with photos for walls :P.

Phantom got it in one, sry about the music, but for some reason Fraps didn't record the sound from the program.

That was taken a few weeks ago, I'm doing all the stuff I plan to do with the real one like basic hovering and controlling it when the nose faces you (harder than you think.)

EDIT: When hopefully flying this week-end, we will most likely end up filming my and my dads first flights, get ready to be impressed, or just to have a huge lolfest as our rotors cut up a school gym's floor and puts a large bill on it.

That looks very real somehow.

It uses real photo's to create something like a 4000x2000 panoramic image, and what's embarrassing is the 30fps I get, it drops to 20fps sometime when I fly past some trees.

Like I say, we are going to most likely film mine and my dads first flight, and when were making the bounce-bars (an extension for the landing gear so it's a bit more forgiving when you come in at an angle) I'll take some pictures of out actual heli.

Flew it yesterday and it's still in one piece and me and dad were there 5 mins and pissed off the biggest anorak ever.

lol kill the anorak, whats the name of the simulator?

The simulator in the first post is called Reflex XTR, it's £60 for XP and £100 for Vista (And that's without a controller.) I assume that it is possible to get the XP one working on Vista, however I assume it's to do with the connection via the controller.

I say this because there is no serial or w/e on the program, the only protection in what connects the controller via USB, it basically converts what looks like a DSL cable into USB. I'll take a picture some time and show you.

Nice program but not worth £60/100 without the controller :p

The idea is that you use your own controller that you get with the heli so when you fly the real thing you're used to it.

I'm proably flying again today if the wind stays calm and I might video it.

I'm going to get some recording done of some basic flights and then to stop it becoming boring, I'll try and do some actual stunts instead of what I was doing and throwing the controls in every direction possible.

You're meant to already have a controller if you fly RC helicopters xD.
