I seem to have an unhealthy obsession with this forum.
After much googling and F5ing on the Steam forums, I've decided to go here, When I try to load up steam on mah computer, I get this:

I'll just bump this thread next time rather than creating endless topics ;D

Lovely descriptive error you got there :p.

It's a C++ error in your registry based on the "Win32Registry.cpp"

However the "p4clients\rel_beta" points it towards your user using a Beta version of Steam, a quick google search of "rel_beta" throws up this (http://www.mail-archive.com/hlcoders@list.valvesoftware.com/msg05686.html), it's not the nicest thing to read, but should solve your problem.

I know you guys'll take the piss, but I use onecare =/

Back OT, should I just download normal steam? Rather than the shitty beta that came with CSS?

Calneon

Surely steam should update to the latest version whatever version you installed?

It tries, and then crashes. How was i supposed to know?

CSS works now, though a little vlaggy sometimes.

i have never used anti virus coz it jsut fucks up and slows your pc epicly

about steam, jsut re downliad teh steam installer, instal to a different location, eg - C:/steam/
login once
then exit
then cut all your gcf's out of c:/Program files/steam/steamapps to c:/steam/steamapps
then restart steam and your golden :)

Calneon

Don't listen to Mitch, get Anti-Virus if you have half a brain. I can recommend Bit-Defender (http://www.bitdefender.com/), it's only ~£15 a year and I haven't had a problem with viruses since I started using it. Low usage too and it has a game mode.

Is there a way to replace the scroll wheel in my mouse, or at least make it physically CLICK when it changes value? It's one of the smooth ones, and it really annoys me =/

Uh, no. You'd need to buy a new mouse.

Please try to stay on-topic guys. If you have a different question, whether it is about antivirus or your mouse, then just create a new thread. Noone will take the piss :p.

Btw, I do have suggestions about AV software (and they haven't been mentionned here either), but you'll have to create a new thread about it. This is now closed.
