This has been slightly confusing me, what are the differences between x38 and p45, from what I see the main thing is that x38 supports PCI-E 2.0, is that all or is there something I'm missing?

Dam, you got me with my own trick :p.
From the looks of it, x38's main feature is being able to do both PCI-E buses at their full speed for CF.
I ask because I'm now looking at quad core with a 4850/4870 (depending on a few factors) for new comp, and being able to CF would add to future-proofing.
The x38 mobo I'm looking at is the one Chalex has, the Maximus Formula (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus-Maximus-Formula-iX38-S-775-PCI-E-20-(x16)-DDR2-1200-1066-800-667-SATA-II-SATA-RAID-ATX), paired with a Q6600 and a Thermaltake 120 Extreme HS, mainly to get the Q6600 up a bit. It's more or less going to be an updated and cut-down version of Chalex's spec.

Yeah, if you're planning on Xfiring them later, then def go with that MB. If not, the P45 would be better value.

CF looks like a good option for future (more monitor at home, more power at LANs :p.)
