Okay so its not actually compiz fusion and lacks most of the effects, but the most notable single one has always been the 3d cube of desktops.

Otaku software have made the 3d cube a reality for windows users.

Basically it lets you open up a 6 sided cube and scroll to any face of it in 3d and use it as a new virtual desktop. It works just like compiz fusion apart from the hotkeys arent mapable.

Unfortunatley unlike compiz it will freeze everythin on the screen while rotating (ie. not give a live preview) but thats a minor inconvenience, and aparantly will be resolved along with more features in the next build. :)

That's quite cool, although I don't quite understand where all the different desktops come from. Are they all different users or something?

Why would I want more than one desktop?

You would want more than one desktop so you dont have numberous windows on top of each other. The other desktops are virtual desktops - they all belong to you.

Sounds like a good idea... I open too many windows as it is.
