Well I do know that it's a very realistic game, and even though I didn't play the first one, i think i'll like it. You need to act carefully and tactically to make sure you don't get shot. I guess if you don't like military sims then this isn't for you. I read somewhere that the engine they use is the same as the engine the military uses for training purposes.

Although games like this can be fun, they are really annoying and require a lot of patients as use sneak around and carefully advance on enemies, I remember the first rainbow six game where you got shot once and died maybe twice if you where really lucky :P

WOW. Those minimum system requirements aren't too demanding o.o My old rig could support that, if I gave it a dual-core...

Or am I just imagining things O.O

Yes probably if you wanted it to look like a peice of shit. :o

Ive got the first and it is very realistic for a game, getting sniped and killed by things you cant see is very annoying till you stop treating it like a cod game then it gets rather good when you go into it more tacticly with a group of people

I noticed that :D.

VC - minimum specs are usually what you need to run the game at lowest settings at 5 FPS. I wouldn't consider that playable :).

Fair point Phant.

And Trig, I try to play most games as realistically as I can, which is why I'm shit at most of them, so ArmA is sort of an answer to my prayers.

Have you not noticed me going on about Project Reality for the past year or so?

Last ArmA was messed, was tempted to get it but heard soooo many tales of how it was poorly made eg bolts didn't flip back when you fired an AK, and the AI was only accurate to within 10m and had a habit of just going prone in the middle of a field.

Nevertheless, I shall most likely buy ArmA2 and be the CAS Pilot for ATK :p.

Arma 2 got 83% in PCG, but i've been reading that reviewers were reviewing a beta version which is why they were marking it down for AI bugs.

Trigger
5th June 2009, 05:50 PM
Arma wasnt messed up, true it hard some issues but a game of that scale will always have, compared to PR its miles ahead if not centurys in the scale and depth.
On the rumour about gun models there some of the most realistic that can be seen in any game :p

Times that with Mods and some of the creations people have got its a great game, i look forward to Arma2

Plus the fact that i have my own creation of an SAS soldier with the help of my friend and weaponry which numerous people are using makes it pretty cool :D

I thought that but technically the way its written it means 14 aircraft, incuding 2 UAV's. Also, 13 helicpoters.

bah, where's the fun in mocking that?

I have VoX, but I don't have BF2, and it doesn't work. XD

D_K_Head
6th June 2009, 11:30 AM
It wouldn't work if you don't have it...

Anyway, for those who are getting it, what sort of loadout would you be using? (vehicles optional)

Vicious Horizon
6th June 2009, 01:27 PM
I'd definately be a pilot, seeing as that's what I am on most games with aerial vehicles in, especially helos.

And DK recommends something like a P90 as a weapons =D

Calneon
6th June 2009, 01:41 PM
I've never played the first so I don't really know how loadouts work, but i'd like to be a sniper sitting on the hills with my binoculars waiting for the perfect shot. Either that or a shotgun and loads of stun nades/gas nades.

VoX
6th June 2009, 03:42 PM
I'd be a pilot, either CAS (Ground attack) or a dog fighter.

Trigger
6th June 2009, 03:42 PM
Loadout wise?

Being heavily British biased it would be:

Vicious Horizon

P90 is nothing like it is on CSS in real life, and ArmA is going for realism.

The Project-90 (P90) Is an anti-personnell (sp?) weapon suited for vehicle operators and pilots, it is also used in anti-terrorist units as a compact weapon.

I like weapons =)

(Notice how I have not said "gun", as that is incorrect. Guns shoot cars off the side of boats.)

@VoX:

And no cheating.

One of my personal favourite rifles =D

VoX
7th June 2009, 12:32 PM
XM8, easy.

Worth checking THIS (http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f11-off-topic-discussion/60614-arma-2-a.html) thread. A bloke on PR forums bought ArmA II and is basically reporting stuff he likes/doesn't like.

Chazlene
7th June 2009, 12:47 PM
Oh my God there's no five-seven, this is gonna be tricky to decide my loadout...

I'd probably go for the G36 assault rifle, a personal favourite.

Vicious Horizon
7th June 2009, 12:58 PM
Heh, you bastard VoX, seeing as it was cancelled I thought you wouldn't get it D:

Cheers for the link

@Chaz: NO FIVE-SEVEN? Shit.. That gun was awesome on CSS xD

VoX
7th June 2009, 01:39 PM
Yes, as we all know CSS is a highly realistic game that portrays a weapon's capabilities and features accurately...

D_K_Head

If there is any choice in the matter. I will be using a sniper rifle. I do not care if it's a mission involving no outdoors whatsoever. be it indoors office. Duststorm, or bunnyhopping fragfest. I WILL be using a sniper rifle. Any questions?

I'd like one of these please, basically that thing on the top of the Humvee... fires microwave at a crowd of people, heating up the water in their skin and causing agonising, agonising... agony. Its non-lethal as well!

But mostly because its nicknamed the "pain ray".

Just in case VoX aimed that comment at me, I was trying to get that across, saying the P90 is nothing like it is in CSS.

Have you seen the "ITS A BIGFOOT" video for ArmA II yet? xD It's a bloke in a ghillie suit

aaaand
