Can, but won't.
Honestly try it yourself... look at Vox, my Photoshop apprentice :p, when he came here he was pretty awful (no offence Vox), but after only a few weeks he was churning out some nice sigs, and now is doing some of the design for the site with me.
Do you have Photoshop? If so then check out www.good-tutorials.com.

No need to apologise, I was shockingly awful!
+1 for good-tutorials, you'd be surprised how quickly you improve.

If you practice, you notice a difference in days :D.

That you will, DM.
Just start practising with one tool at a time, find out what you can do with things, and pretty soon you'll be making sick sigs in no time.

Chaz, your new sig is epic sick. You gotta show me how to do that! The moderator and www.atkcommunity.com text kinda spoils it though.

Cheers, yeah it looked a bit empty without the extra text... and it'll take ages to explain what I did, I was making it up as I went along. :p
Basically the background was done using the halftone pixelate with quick mask... and the text I mucked about with a metallic gradient and added a chunky drop shadow. I'll explain fully at i37. :D

When you save as a jpeg, make sure the quality is set to maximum :p.
Not a bad first attempt though :D.

Just pissing about with the halftone filter. I think it looks a bit too busy when squished into sig size.

Could do without border, but then the sort of black glow ends randomly.
Still, not bad for only the second time using the hafltone filter :p.

Besides, I learnt from you that a sig generally needs a border =P
(We've gone just a tad off topic now, haven't we?)

Oh well lol.
Yeah, I'm to used to bordered sigs, which in fairness if they are solid they need, but a free flowing one tends to look meh with a border unless done perfectly.

Nice Vox, what's with the random bat guy though lol.
I have actually fallen in love with the halftone pixelate option though, using it with everything now.

Mate has pretty awesome doodle skills so I just got him to draw the bat and I got bored today and scanned it and and vectored it.
And yeah, when the halfton filter is used well looks awesome and becomes addictive, I'm slightly addicted to subtle outer glows and drop shadows as they soften the contrast between text and background.

VoX you should make the background to yours transparent :). You can still kinda see the box around it.

It should be, I've been trying to find out which layer is causing it to be a bit darker as the BG is exactly the same as the site, I'm thinking I've left an outer glow on somewhere it shouldn't be.

That's what it looks like from here, VoX.

Think I fixed it, where I had duplicated the group for the bat to merge them into a single layer, I forgot to hide the original group, which had an outer glow.

Nice work, now get posting in the other thread :P
