[Update] We’ve got confirmation from AMD that the Evergreen cards are being shown this weekend, at the QuakeCon video game convention in Dallas, Texas.

The word is finally out. AMD will launch it’s much anticipated next generation graphics processors code name “Evergreen” on September 10th; ahead of Windows 7’s launch in late October..

For AMD, these 40-nm, Microsoft DX11-compliant GPUs will fundamentally change the graphics industry and give it a clear advantage over Nvidia, again!

The prior generation of ATI cards was such high performance and so cheap that they forced Nvidia to hastily put together competitive video cards.

Sadly, AMD’s Santa Clara, Calif., rival hasn’t shown much of its DX-11 chips yet. However, Nvidia might choose to show off its wares at its own GPU Technology conference at the end of September in San Jose.

The GPU market is finally kicking some tires, just in time for the holiday season!

I may switch to ATI to try the 5 series out, depending on how they score in reviews that is.

I can almost guarantee that they will be cheaper that the GT300 series though, nVidia like to shoot themselves in the foot allot.

Yeh Nvidia like to produce over priced cards that only perform slightly better than ati...but ati ftw tbh

I agree, even though I have an nVidia card.

Apparently that's DX11 in-game footage, although I have doubts, it could easily be pre-rendered stuff.

That looked very nice, though what specifically makes it DX11?

Now I'm very glad I held off replacing my 8800GTS 512MB for my b-day. I'll probably buy one of these when they come out, DX11/Dirt looks amazing!

I'd still rather have an nVidia.

GT300 is pretty much unheard of atm, I'm guessing something in the 40nm processes went tits up so they've got to go back to 55nm.

If nVidia does typical nVidia, they will be better than the HD5xxx series, but not however much more they will cost better.

That is impressive, I bet you'd need a monster rig to play it though. Kind of like DX10, it's taken years for developers to even begin to use it fully without halving frame rates.

Yeah, those comparisons are interesting but I can't help but feeling that the guy on the right only looks better because he has a beard - the guy on the left may look very similar with one (graphics wise) ;).

That's true, how can you say, "Look at this guy's DX11 hair compared to this guy's DX10 hai.... oh wait he doesn't have any".
