Dont know how many of you have seen this but recently a group of police officers were filmed sledging down a hill on a riot shield whilst on duty.

Its once again caused "public uproar" to a degree.

My Opinion They're just having a bit of fun. Fair enough if they're on duty they shouldn't have done it, but at the end of the day no harms done. All the people that bang on about the taxes, LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE. I'm not saying they shouldnt be reprimanded, but i don't think they should be fired or anything like that, a slap on the wrist would suffice.

Negative peoples opinion Its "Outrageous", "bloody ridiculous", "Fucking sickening" - yes. they're quotes. "If I did something similar to that i'd be sacked". "This is what we're paying higher and higher taxes for" "Riot shields cost money, but it doesnt matter because WE pay for them".

(Respect to the riot shield, it would have probably gotten scratched doing that, but at the end of the day ITS A RIOT SHIELD. If it cant handle sliding down a hill and then be put back into use then its not good enough at being a riot shield.)

Anyway, what do you guys think.

That happened about 5 mins away from where I live :D. I don't see what the fuss is all about - yes they are on the job, but it's not like they spend all day sledging, or beat people because they got in the way. I think people moaning about it should be battered with the same shield.

Lol I saw this, they should be congratulated in having a sense of humour, rather than being reprimanded, I mean, how many people were off work that day because they couldn't be bothered to walk a mile to work? And we honestly expect a group of police officers not to have a bit of fun for 5 minutes? It's bullshit imo, and people complaining should get a life.

The debate is not about they should not be doing that but a major investigation is being conducted to see if they had the relevant insurance and health & safety forms filled out before they proceeded to have "fun".

And how much is this "major investigation" going to cost, and say they DIDNT have those things, their not performing work duties or in the office so surely if they say broke their leg its their problem.

I was actually thinking they would get raped by health and safety, but it would be there own fault tbh, I'm with the police on this one having inappropriate fun in the snow is allowed, especially in a car :D

Lol ez64, this if health and safety was that ridiculous then I'd need to eat my hat.

With the amount of the workforce off work on these snowdays, the police should be allowed to have fun - like EVERYONE else is on these self-proclaimed days off.
