View Full Version : Reformate with files on HDD?

I bought a Medion - Windows media center edition last year.. And now I have to reformate necouse off viruses..
But I cant find out how I reformate this freakin computer!
Medion says the files should be stored on my PC, but where?
If I need to do something at startup screen, what?
I tried F1, F2, F3, F8and F10 plus TAB and DEL..
I sure dont have a Media Center CD..
Please help..:confused:

Get the windows XP CD.

Boot to CD. Repair Windows. Everything should be on the hard drive.

Thats the problem.. I dont have the cd.. Th RECOVERY FILES is stored on my PC

You need to have a CD with windows on it to reinstall it, you reformat using the install CD then reinstall windows.. You need a cd of somesort. Might have to burn one.

At the startup screen hit F8. Go into safe mode and burn the recovery files off your PC.

No ive burned following files:
FACTORY.002
FACTORY.003
FACTORY.004
FACTORY.005
FACTORY.006
and
FACTORY.PQI

What do I do now? And is this the right files?

Make the disc bootable. It'll boot from CD. The CD will install the right things then.

You need a setup.exe there somewhere. What did medion say to do?

They didnt. They they only said they would be stored on my pc

If they didn't give you a setup disc, HP should walk you through it. TALK TO THEM!
