Since poll threads will be closed once the result has been decided, put any open discussion in here.

I am pissed Jen Ledger is out...but to be fair, getting a vote that wasn't mine against the Aussie Vixen was an achievement in my eyes :D

Tbh I'd rather have Gemma win than the ones I chose, and I really hope Scarlett doesn't... such an obvious choice.

Isphera
3rd February 2010, 08:49 AM
I'm gonna not close any polls early unless it is so obvious that they won't win, which will start happening at about 5pm tonight with Summer Glau vs. Elisha Dushku. In terms of the tie, I'm going to have to figure out a method today which isn't longest in lead (unfeasable) and my vote counts for two (biased towards my noms).

Chazlene
3rd February 2010, 09:00 PM
Hahaha it's funny seeing you say 'noms' Oric, since it's also lolcat for food.

Isphera

I just can't be bothered to type nominations every time. I will admit noms sounds a bit strange with the topic of the poll series though.

But lets be fair, we would all 'nom' our way through most of the lovely ladies on the list.

!!ALERT!!

All polls will be closing at 5pm TONGIHT. Make sure you get your votes in and your nominations through. A lot of tight, close votes at the moment.

I'll sort something out for the second round - maybe actually posting the exact ending for each poll when it begins.

Isphera

Megan Fox just isn't that desirable. Half the time she looks like a dude, and the other half she looks like a tramp who tries too hard. Plus she can't act.

Surely that's down to opinion and the whole point of a democracy.

And it is also the premise and creation point of brackets in the first place. If someone in the poll gets beaten, then they obviously are not the 'most desirable' to the community. Obviously, everyone will have their own opinion as to who should win each matchup, and thus will have their own bracket for the competition (e.g I posted a personal preliminary prediction bracket (http://www.bracketsmackdown.com/#/2312/) before this started), but as it is a community poll series, the majority opinion will win through, and thus, the true winner will emerge. In this case of the nominations who don't progress through the bracket, because it means they are not the most desirable overall, that's not to say that they are the least desirable compared to others who didn't win the competition (For example, I can't imagine that if I rejumbled the matchups that Jen Ledger would beat Cheryl Cole in a community vote). For a league table effect, you would need multiple brackets and then replace the winner of each one with a new competitor and re-run it through.

See: Bracketology (http://www.bracketsmackdown.com/#/WHATISBRACKETOLOGY/) and the book 'The Final Four of Everything (http://www.bracketsmackdown.com/#/ABOUTTHEBOOK/)' (Just ordered it from Amazon, looks like an interesting read.)

Bit more of a logical and intellectual discussion post for most babe polls on the internet, but this is one being run by me, so what did you expect ;D

Getting back to the Poll Series itself, all eight round two polls will start tonight between 5-7pm and will end exactly two days later (Sunday night at the same time they began). They will close earlier if there is an overwelming majoirty in favour of a single nomination.

True. But if we wanted to add nominations, then we would have needed 64 nominations, or a bye system - which would have been a nightmare to work out fairly.

2x50.

Oops I meant a power of 2, not a multiple. Being a multiple of 4 wouldn't work because 12/2 = 6, 6/2 = 3.

Has to be 2^2, 2^3, 2^4, etc.

Isphera
11th February 2010, 12:24 PM
Hmm. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 etc.

And as awesome as my job would be looking at 256 women at the start of it all, I am not setting up 128 polls for the first round :D

And going back to Brooklyn Decker - the 2010 SI Swimsuit edition cover was released yesterday:

Can I just ask everyone to think before they vote in the Semi-Finals to think about it for a sec. When this is said and done, the winning nomination will have our name associated with them for the next year, and it will reflect upon us a to who we chose.

Do we really want a polish model who is the idol of the swirling mass of dredge and chavdom in the UK (despite her hotness), or a fading starlet from a failing TV Show to define the community when visitors see our selection?

Or would you rather have a Sci-Fi veteran who is hot as hell, not to mention a long time ATK favourite, and a rising actress in a TV Show based around theoretical, practical and astrophysicists facing off for our votes in the final.

For me, it seems to be a no brainer. Vote Glau and Cuoco.

Well, the competition is over and we have an interesting final result. Evangeline Lilly, the actress from Lost wins the DWPS for 2010. Chalex's polish model comes in second and the Big Bang Theory awesomeness that is Kaley Cuoco comes in third. I'm surprised that Atkinson and Glau didn't get in the top three myself, anyone else have any surprises.

My main surprise was at how close Liv Tyler came to being in the semi's. Honestly didn't see her get past first round.
