Lets just hope they don't radically change anything, Dragon Age was a near perfect game in my eyes, I just want more of the same.

As I've said to you in steam chat, as long as that doesn't mean "we've consolified it so you only have five buttons to press" I'm very excited.

Yeah, and I hope the new 'visual style' isn't too bad.

Hmm probably a timely bump. I really don't like the way this game is going. It seems like they're talking a lot about dumbing it down into a 3rd person action RPG, with a close over the shoulder camera, which sounds terrible to me. The best thing about Dragon Age was it's top down tactical gameplay. I just hope they'r talking about the console version and they haven't changed the PC version much. It seems like EA have seen the success Mass Effect 2 had on consoles, and wanted Bioware to make Dragon Age 2 more like that, which is totally the wrong idea. Bloo mentioned to me, that it;s likely that EA are still going by retail sales, which doesn't fairly portray how successful this game was on the PC.

That noise you hear is me sucking air through my teeth. When I heard Dragon Age’s combat was becoming more action-oriented with the addition of a Mass Effect style third person camera and direct control (but retaining the option of ordering and equipping your party), I was all for it. I love Mass Effect’s combat, and figured that Bioware could do something amazing with Dragon Age’s gory, visceral fighting.

I was disappointed. Turns out it plays more like Fable, with that anime-style animation where your weapons is raised high above your shoulder in one frame, and then in the next it’s at the end of the blow, with a glowing light indicating where it passed through. More than that, 3rd person melee combat with no block or dodge button feels deeply wrong to me. As a warrior, you run up to enemies and hammer the attack button, popping off special abilities as and when they’re ready. I guess you could play an archer, or a mage. But still. Air through teeth.

I liked DA:O's Baldur's Gate style combat, feels much more tactical that way.

You should probably mention Calneon that your quote is from RPS. ^^

But yes, I'm very dubious about the game, I don't think it will be bad because I have enough faith in Bioware but... it won't be a PC game, it will be a console game ported to the PC. And that's a crying shame.

You see a lot of the fun of Dragon Age was those big fancy word things. Strangely enough if you put enough of them together you get a story. Hard to understand I know, but you're northern so It is understandable.

Just a gameplay trailer from some event. To be honest, the more I see of DA2, the less interested I become. I usually don't like graphics, but they look like a step back from DA:O and the combat looks... crap is the word I'm looking for I think. Or shit. Hopefully the story will be worth it though, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'll probably still buy it, though from that short gameplay section it looks pretty bad. Hope it's very unfinished.

Bear in mind this is the console version though.

The fact that it is the console version speaks loads anyway. Such as that the console version is important to them (fair play, it's a bigger market and the PC just gets leftovers anyway most of the time) and the fact that Bioware think that the only conceivable way a console gamer would enjoy Dragon Age is by dumping the tactical combat because console gamers are idiots. But yeah, I will probably still buy it, but not on release I think.
