Well I just bought myself a SSD :D

The main issue I found with my rig was that the HD was always the bottle neck and I felt that my Graphics card was being held back.

So lastnight after rebuilding my PC I installed BC2 and for the first time I managed to play it with all the setting on very high and smoothly. :D

I also carried out a HD test so I could see the numbers.

OCZ 120GB Vertex 2E SSD 2.5" SATA-II Read = 285MB/s, Write = 275MB/s 50,000 IOPS

The numbers are a litle low to what the box said, so I will need to look into why this is.

My Old Raptor

WD Raptor X WD1500AHFD 150GB SATA 10KRPM 16MB Cache

Also, ATTO Disk benchmark is the mainly used program for what you want to do :)

I have an OCZ Revodrive here so get about twice that, tho it doesnt support trim but sandforce has its own garbacge collection over time.

I assume your on windows 7, and if so have you enabled TRIM?

If yes delete sumthign and "empty" your recycle bin wait an hour or so, then re run the test.

Also ATTO disk benchmark is the software everyone goes by for read write speeds geneally speaking. here http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1137/atto_disk_benchmark_v2.34.html

Good question!

Will check this tonight.

To enable TRIM, start a Command Prompt window (in Administrator mode, type “CMD” in the Search bar from the Windows Start Menu) and
enter the following command:

“fsutil behavior set DisableDeleteNotify 0″

Makes me want an SSD, though I don't think I really need one, I'm always the first to load in multiplayer games.

I've just forked out £40 for a 1TB platter drive, so and SSD is way down on my list of priorities atm, but in the future I guess it's something I should keep my eye on;

What sizes do SSDs get up to nowdays?

Sorry guys, didn't have time to read this since I was too busy wallpapering the inside of my fridge.
