This is an idea that's been floating around for a long time. I think it's time we set it up!

The purpose of the Media Team would be to work on generating new original content, for distribution via our YouTube channel / Flickr etc. We could cover the iSeries events properly, make some cool stunt videos in BF3 or even a video podcast. Anything!

I can see that it would also make sense for the team to be responsible for our Facebook & Twitter accounts, so that our productions etc can be shared with the world instantly.

The team would have access to the media@atkcommunity.com address (currently unused), which I am currently working on connecting to a YouTube account (http://www.youtube.com/user/TheATKCommunity). Google is forcing me to reupload videos.

If you're interested in joining or running the team, let us know below!

Unfortunately nothing ever comes of them....

Yeah LTM is a difficult one. Really needs a team of people working on it. Anyone interested? :p

I'm sure there are loads of you who could do a great job.

LoL commentarys, its a huge gap in the market, There is no skilled community commentators, Noone who people can just get in, and with spec mode out or atleast very close, we can assume more community tourney's will pop, if atk is trying to move into original content, then THIS is the thing ATK would need to do, high quality, High Volume content. I would have continued with TheMFingGamer, but i kind of quit League, If i come back, then I'd love to help, but just wanted to make it clear to anyone that this would be the best way to make your channel successful. also watch athene's video on winning at youtube.

Stay gold,
Foulkez

Ah, A Boat Assault, the drama when we, all in our early teens, back in the day when I was known as 'Marcyus' (how glad I was to change that name after a while :D) and we had BIH as a host, bickered because you used two people for each character instead of one :D. Also like how it says episode one, but much like the game it was made in (to a degree), the next episode is no-where to be seen many years on :D Probs a little self-centered this comment, but it's funny to see how much I seemed to decide the music early on :P (I think I suggested all of ABA and the BB track in Jetlag is obvs).

....THIS is the thing ATK would need to do: High quality, High Volume content. I would have continued with TheMFingGamer, but i kind of quit League, If i come back, then I'd love to help....also watch athene's video on winning at youtube.

I cleaned up the post a little bit in the quote to make it a bit easier to digest what I think are the key factors, but, by and large, I absolutly agree with you on this. I know you primarily mention LoL casting, but I think any game content would be vital for getting people here.

When you look at the well-known communities in the world, they offer vastly different products than each other, but the main theme of success I believe is that you have to have some sort of content or service that people can congregate around. With UKCS, it's their massive and well-supported network of servers for CSS, DODS, TF2 and the like, combined with their UK-focus and friendly community spirit that brings people in. Team Liquid is simply the one-stop place for everything StarCraft, with the stream list, forums for every topic under the sun, all read by the pros as well as the noobs alike, Liquipedia...you get the gist.

Since we're taking the content approach, in order for ATK Media to be successful, which in turn should help ATK as a whole be successful, you need "high quality, high volume content". Now this brings up a question I mentioned a while ago in the first open letter to the community - are we truly a any/multi-game community or do we want to specialise in one or a couple games? By answering that question, we make the task of creating content much easier because we know what games we are targeting it at. Next, you wanna try and figure out who you want to bring in - do you want the top skilled players, anyone interested in the game or simply Joe Bloggs who plays LoL every now and again and just wants to keep up with stuff. This can be modified for each game and more questions can be asked depending upon the answers needed.

My opinion on going forward - focus content on the games we play the most, but don't dilute it with more than four games (if you can find people willing to create content for four games in the process :D. Before that though, we need to focus on what the community is first, before we start creating content for it.

Sounds good, not trying ot be cynical, but all of the ideas you / atk have do. Unfortunately nothing ever comes of them....

They never succeed because no-one ever gets involved to help. If everyone who was a regular on TS pitched in with one of these ideas (Helix, Media, LTM etc.) for a little amount of time per week, we'd be in a much better place.

I actually started on 'Episode II' with Harrison, but we never got to the filming stage :(. Was a pretty cool map we wanted to use!! Always find myself watching the first episode though, such a laugh to make. I actually still think it turned out great :).

With regards to ATK Media, you're both exactly right. We need to focus on what exactly we want to create, but to do that we need to properly understand what ATK really is. Over the year's we've had a lot of members and games come and go.

Although we'll always be a multi-gaming community, it does make sense to focus on a few games. Sure, the games we focus on will change over the years, but so do the games everyone plays. I'd actually say we should choose 2, rather than 4. So what would those games be? SWTOR & BF3? SWTOR & Starcraft? SWTOR & Skyrim? Perhaps we should just focus on SWTOR until the next big game starts coming around the corner (then we can start creating content for that).

What kind of content? I think Foulkez got it right. High quality, high volume (obviously, easier said than done). Do we have a group of 2/3 people that are interesting/funny/knowledgeable enough to commentate on matches/do walkthroughs?

I can clean up and upload some of my better QL casts if anyone would like me to, though I'll probably want to recast some of them in higher quality.. following on from Foulkez's idea.

I think the most popular games in the community right now are likely SWTOR and SC2, followed by BF3 and LoL. Regardless of what we decide on, from here though, we should re-org the forums to facilitate discussion on the focused games. Content-wise, it'll depend on the games.

Shit, Boat Assault is SEVEN YEARS OLD that's like... a third of my life ago. :o

Also that video is incredibly trippy for some reason...

Great. So that gives us:

Casters: Foulkez, Vicious Horizon
Editors: Zanziba'ar
SFX: Chazlene
Other: Isphera

Although it'd always be better if the casters could edit, and the editors could cast. That'd make things a LOT faster, and allow us to a wider variety of things :). Also, focusing on SWTOR and SC2 seems fine to me. Anyone else agree/disagree?

Man i'd love to do some commentary whilst im playing a game/reviews/ and let's play types of stuff.

I suck at editing though, so yeah :(

Infact i've been meaning to do playthroughs of lesser known games that people don't tend to buy despite the fact they're awesome (see: Payday: The Heist) and i know Darkpidgeon would be interested in either helping or starring in things like that :)

Good to hear Toasty! I'm sure you could get better at editing if you tried :).

Definitely liking the sound of walking through lesser known games, I'd watch that. Guessing they're multiplayer if you need other people to help out with that? Perhaps there are singleplayer ones you could start on?

I could do any type of game really, recently I've been getting in to puzzle agent but that could end up getting quite lengthy haha

I'll have a look through my library and i could probably dig out some gems :)

Pretty nice man didn't know you'd made this stuff.

How about at some point we go on an empty BF3 server just to muck about and come up with some ideas for a stunt video?

Really nice video. Would love to see some BF3 stuff in this video. Only thing I would recommend is making the music segues a little smoother.

And what's that - Breaking Benjamin in another ATK video? Srsly everyone, stop berating them to troll me, if anything, they are the community band the amount we use their music.
