I found THIS (http://www.ebuyer.com/238385-asus-vk278q-lcd-led-full-hd-27-hdmi-monitor-with-webcam-vk278q#) http://www.ebuyer.com/238385-asus-vk278q-lcd-led-full-hd-27-hdmi-monitor-with-webcam-vk278q# Asus monitor which looks like a good place to upgrade from my 22. Anyone know of anything that might be better or a reason why not to get this?
EDIT - I know that I can get it cheaper elsewhere, I linked the eBuyer since it tends to give the clear spec laid out at bottom.

Looks pretty good to me. One thing to note is that the resolution is 1920x1080, not 2560x1440. I'm not sure what your current monitor is, but if it's 22" or 24", it's likely to be 1920x1080, which means this new monitor won't get you any addition screen real estate (things will just look bigger). It also means the DPI is lower, making images less sharp, though that also means you won't get the performance decrease in games you would if you went to the higher resolution.
If your plan is to use your old monitor as a second monitor, I'd say go for this one. Otherwise, maybe see if there are any in your budget that go up to 2560x1440.
EDIT: Just looked at your specs here (http://www.atkcommunity.com/showthread.php/3148-Post-your-hardware!), and you do have a 22" monitor. If you're sticking with a single monitor, I think this upgrade will disappoint you, as you'll keep the same resolution, and have a decrease in DPI. You have the PC specs to upgrade to a 2560x1080 monitor so that's what I'd recommend.

Ah, in which case, I may look for a better reso one, but not sure how things like BF3 would run on a 2560x1440 with my 5870, I'm guessing high at least?

I'd have thought so, not too up on graphics cards at the moment. What FPS do you get at the moment?

No idea, lemme check....
EDIT - OK, around 26 FPS on High, 40 FPS on Medium

With a resolution of 2560x1440, you'll be wanting to put those settings on medium. High would lag quite a bit I think, judging by what you currently get.
Monitors at the 2560x1440 resolution generally start at around the £550 mark. Is that within budget?

At the moment no, I may wait a little bit and save up some more, but I think the performance hit may make it a mute point and I may stick with 1920x1080 anyway.

Yeah considering you only get 40 FPS on medium at the moment, increasing resolution would make it almost impossible to play. Honestly I'd get another 22/24" monitor and wait till you have a better card to get a decent 27" one.

Reason for upgrading was the 22 is just too small IMHO.
TBH, I was trying not to upgrade GCard, but if that's what's needed to get the proper high res, sounds like a better idea to wait for the ATI 7's and getr the monitor then. Cheers for the advice bros.

Another +1 for the U2711, mate just bought one and, like Piers', looks awesome.

It's a tough one yeah, but I think waiting is the best choice, otherwise you're likely to be disappointed.

I have the U2711 as vox said, and its awesome, but even wiht my 2 6950s in crossfire running as 6970s they dont liek BF3 at max settings at 2560x1440.
Its great to have the extra resolution but you'd need more grunt for modern games, + 2560x1440 monitors are (or were) mostly IPS and alot more expensive)
With a 7970 youd probably perform about what I do now which im sure would be satisfactory but then youd b lookin at a £400+ gpu and £400/500+ screen so a major upgrade compared to a £280 screen.
One thing to note, the u2711 isnt glossy. I would have prefered a glossy screen.
