Here is the thread for everyone to post pictures of their PC cases.

These are the rules which must be kept to:

IMAGES MUST BE NO BIGGER THAN 640x480.

A MAX OF 5 IMAGES PER POST. IF YOU HAVE MORE, PROVIDE A LINK BELOW.

IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE THE IMAGES DOWN, PLEASE RTM THE POST SO THEY ARE DELETED. IF YOU MOVE THEM, PLEASE EDIT YOUR POST.

THIS THREAD SHOULD ONLY SHOW PICTURES OF YOUR CASES. PLEASE DO NOT POST ROOMS AND OTHER RANDOM THINGS.

It doesn't matter if your PC isn't pimped, it is still nice to see what you use :).

I will get this started with some piccies of my new build:

I am using the Antec 900 case with 2 blue cold cathodes. The huge tower is cooling my CPU, it is the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme heatsink paired with a Scythe S-FLEX 120mm 1600RPM fan. The Thermalright heatsink is generally considered the best CPU air cooling solution on the market, without going into water cooling etc. You can see the rest of my specs by clicking the link below my name on the left.

Feel free to comment, but please remember that this thread is mainly for pictures.

PC Update Log 25.7.08

Just got my order in from scan/OCUK to put a new file server, another 150gb raptor for raid 0 for the gaming rig and some new fans, new 1TB drive and fan controller.

Problems already they sent a Raptor 150gb although I bought a 150gb raptor X (windowed).

Getting under way,

http://i34.tinypic.com/2551eec.jpg

Getting the case apart,

http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/5489/1000543jn1.jpg

Its a Mess :D

http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/3272/1000544ce3.jpg

Fitted the new HDD and flipped most of the fans so all the intake at the front and all the exhaust are at the back, also added two new 120mm to the top of the case. Just mounted the new file server to it MB tray.

http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/398/1000547ys2.jpg

Holes have been circ sawed for the second PSU, and now its time for BBQ and have to go out to pub so leaving till tommrow.

Did some work last night and finished it today on the hardware side.

Heres the file server getting tested and prodded before it goes in, A padded rention PCI bracket was installed to keep the second PSU from shorting the GFX card.

http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/5721/1000548mt6.jpg

Just got some message tape to cover the Drilled holes on the top of the case, anyone got any ideas as to what it should say?

http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/7803/1000549qu1.jpg

Finnaly the case while its having the OS's installed, cable managment? Meh.

http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/7510/1000550wx6.jpg

Tried to clean the cables up but until I buy some longer sata cables I cannot do much.

I spy with my little eye, an IDE cable and an AMD CPU! Any reasons why you didn't go for SATA and Intel?

Am I right in thinking that you are running two separate systems inside that case? I am thinking this because you have two mobos lying around, or are you just replacing one with the other. Oh, and I'm not sure that you have enough fans :p.

Apart from that, the case and components look great. Unfortunately I don't have the room for a case of that size.

ez64
27th July 2008, 01:48 PM
Considering im using 5/6 sata ports for the file server drives and when I dont need it to boot up fast or have any kind of HDD thrashing, I thought it was fine to use a IDE connector for the OS so I dont have to buy a £100 sata PCI-X expansion card right now.

As for AMD I just went for price/performance/features and the intel options were just not as good as the AMD parts are selling for chips now.

I'm not sure that you have enough fans :p.

Haha :D

Yes its my file server and gaming rig in one, just a network cable going to the file server and I vnc the shit out of it :)

Awesome setup you have there, I will be posting images of mine when I have my new 24" widescreen monitor.

On another note, what chair do you have there, is is comfortable, where did you get it from, and how much did it cost? (I am on the lookout for a new chair if you couldn't guess :D).

Holy hell, all of that off an AMD Dual Core? I can see the big heat sink and fan but how hot does that get?

I'm jealous of the multi monitors :(, I would but a new GCard so I could run 2 monitors but I've only got a 250W PSU and it's Packard Bell so it's going to be really useless.

Does get hot when its at 3.01ghz from 2.6 but It gives a nice air tunnel effect in the case.

Two AM2 dual cores :D, but the monitors all run off a 8800 GTS and a 8400 GS on the same system in the SLI slots with SLI turned off, then I just use VNC a type of Remote desktop software to access the fileserver.

XP Pro SP3 funnily enough with VNC :), Looked into using server 03 and I will probably switch to it as im used to the server only load balancing and such.

Lol thats just because he may have synced too high or have a faulty or non existant phone filter somewhere.

Otherwise being synced at 18/21mb down and 2.6mb up is awesome :)

Electricity bill?!?! I've never payed for one :D and thank god, now with my PC in this time of summer my A/C unit is on pretty much all day.

I used to work in a IT shop when I was younger that got me most of my cash since I had no out goings now its just odd jobs (IT related and my apprenticeship with a IT server install/architecture company), but uni suck's most of my funds these days.

Yeah, I have several non-existent or very old and crappy Tiscali ADSL filters, so we have some more coming.

I only get 3Mbps down and 1Mbps up because were on the Value package and our line can only take a max of 4Mbps (We get 3 because were not in the primary phone socket.)

ez64
28th July 2008, 05:52 PM
You get 3mbps down because your 1mb upload is using the same line, you can swap around download for upload and vice versa but a 2/2 connection is what I'd go for if you have many pc's on the same line.

If its only one stay at 3/1, sitcking the adsl router to the main box will help stability and might even get you a few more kbps.

VoX
28th July 2008, 06:01 PM
Our main socket is upstairs and the comp is downstairs and it's impractical for us to run an Ethernet to it and my mum is sceptical about Power Line Networking.

Bumpy!

Right, let's kick this off with the specification:

Asus P5Q Deluxe
Intel Q6700
Corsair Dominator 1066Mhz DDR2
Antec 900-2 Case
Samsung SH-220 (Or something) Optical Drive
Samsing Spinpoint F1 1TB
Sansung Spinpoint F1 320GB
Point Of View GTX 280
Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme CPU Cooler
Scythe S-Flex 1600RPM Fan
Corsair TX 650W PSU
Logitech G15
Logitech G5
Samsung T240 24" Widescreen Monitor

(If it's in Bold, it has arrived and I have pictures :D)

Right, OCUK have messed up my order a few times, so it should be expected (for the 4th time) this Wednesday, so expect the full building to commence then. All the other stuff was bought from Scan and Amazon.

(Sorry for bad pictures, my phone has a pretty crap camera that only works well in good daylight.)

The new Antec 900-2 Case, it's basically the 900 with some aesthetic changes and dust filters.

http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/1274/9002box.jpg

http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/1749/outsidecaseopen.jpg

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/6948/insidecasej.jpg

I also found out that the box could house another thing, me! (Note the feet poking out of the bottom.)

http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/7184/meinbox.jpg

The motherboard tht this build will be based around; the Asus P5Q Deluxe, plus the Logitech G5 mouse.

http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/3392/mobomouse.jpg

The Mobo itself (it hasn't come out of the anti-static bag yet.)

http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/8434/moboopen.jpg

This is the Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme (TRUE) CPU cooler, this should allow me to push the Q6700 near the 3.6Ghz mark with ease, providing I get a good chip.

http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/8059/truem.jpg

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/300/trueopen.jpg

That's all for now, the next lot of pics should include the comp fully built and expect those Wednesday/Thursday.

Funky case.

I'll grab some pics of my new build soon and shove them up here, Antec 900-2 ftw!

EDIT: Here they be!

Note that the RAM is in single channel as the MB throws a fuss if it's in dual channel, and the cables are as managed as I can be bothered to do, but when the Gcard sits and 70C full load and the CPU doesn't break 46 or so doing the Intel burn-in test, I think that it's not needed :D (Oh, that's with chassis fans set to low as well :D.) I idle with the lowest Core at 26C and highest at 33C :D. I love the TRUE!

Specs for the build are under my name.

Holy thready revival batman!

Got loan of a DSLR until Sat, so been messing about with it doing PC pics.

What I've learnt so far:

Get up close and have the PC fill the shot, looks a lot better.
Long exposure times with lights at the end give off a nice glow to the LEDs while still keeping detail in the case.
Cable management is a bitch.
Non-natural light is hard to work with unless you have studio lights
Messing up 10 second exposure shots is not nice, considering you need to start all over again haha

So, here are the pics

On a tight-ish budget the Antec 300 and mod the shit out of it, is what I'd do if I needed a new case.

Strip it apart and paint each part a colour to suit your taste, although the OcUK AVP edition one looks awesome with just Green LED fans

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/pimg/FS-237-OK_400.jpg

If you have a higher budget, for performance look at the Antec 900 (What Chalex has), 900-2 (What I have), Antec 1200, or one of the Coolermaster HAFs (What Phantom has) or for silence/sleek looks the Antec P series or the Fractal Design R2's.

Dream case has to be the Corsair Obsidian 800D though, seen some awesome Watercooled setups in those.

Also with no watercooling I could make the case much more compact and stronger. Now you can just grab it from any side and lift :D

Just spent a few hours building new case, and this time its upright!
