is this just super turf or a declaration of general software that has been around since before I was born?

Or you can leave your file unpassworded and unencrypted, to save pointless effort since your OS account has a password, and that's what it's there for. Yes, you can hack. But if someone has enought time in your house at your computer to hack your files without getting stopped, then it's your own damn fault.
