Need Help (Audio Related)

My audio is "spiking" the volume goes up and then back to normal and does this a few times over the duration of a song (winamp,youtube), i haven't noticed it doing this ingame.
Anyway this is driving me NUTS! and i cant really find anything about it on the interwebs.

I have a SB-Xfi Xtreme Audio. But i dont think its the card since this has only happened to me for the past month or so. My friend say's he has a similar problem but he has no idea what it is. Also i have a Creative T7900 Inspire 7.1 Speaker system.

So so any ideas?

Oh also i just tried unplugging all the wires and plugging them back in on the woofer, so im gonna see if that does something [Edit] Didint do squat

have you tried unplugging it and pluggin it in again?

(on a serious not, you tried uninstalling / reinstalling drivers)

After reinstalling the driver, it happened again! So its either the card or the speakers

Try using your onboard sound?

Windows 7 by any chance?

Hasent done this the last 2x installations, those were both 32bit's, now ive got a 64bit and this happens but not untill recently.

And ugh, i might be arsed to try using my onboard but i dont think it supports 7.1 so ill need to find a different set of speakers so i would first have to test those with my current audio card.

Can you not jsut plug in 6 of them (5.1) and see if it does it?
