G92 Details Announced "8700GTS"
Quote:
VR-Zone has learned more about the upcoming Nvidia G92 where the official marketing name is most likely to be GeForce 8700 GTS. As revealed earlier, G92 is 65nm based and has 256-bit memory bus width. The reference 8700 GTS card has 8-layer PCB and comes with 512MB GDDR3 1ns memories so the memory clock of G92 is estimated to be between 900Mhz to 1GHz. Core clock is unknown yet.
This is the one being released nov the 12th.
So looks like the new 9xxx series or G90's wont be out for some time.

Re: G92 Details Announced "8700GTS"
I'm confuddled. Is the 8700 between the 8600 and the 8800 in terms of performance?
Re: G92 Details Announced "8700GTS"
Well there was a article a few days ago that stated that the new G92's werent designed to remove the 8800 series at the king of the playground.
edit1: basicly a new mid range card

oooo woould this be as powerfull as the 8800....if not ill buy this instead of the X1950
Re: G92 Details Announced "8700GTS"
No its not going to be as powerfull as a 8800, its going to be a mid range card.
From a marketing stand point, nvidia doesnt need to release a top range card just yet. There more more worth while refining there card waiting till production costs are less.
I expect a new nvidia card to knock the 8800 off the crown about feb+.
Nvidia doesnt want all the people buying a new card at xmas when they can buy already produced 8800's :)
Re: G92 Details Announced "8700GTS"
or, they could charge loads for the new card at Christmas because people will be spending more money at the time and they will pay higher amounts for it. Where are the Dx10.1 cards?

im still wating for server 07
Re: G92 Details Announced "8700GTS"
The card isnt here to replace 8800 series, its just there new mid range card
10.1 is no good and has almost no featres to go "omg must get a new card"
G90s are going to be next year. (the 8800 killers)
Re: G92 Details Announced "8700GTS"
Do not buy anything else that is less than a 8800.
Re: G92 Details Announced "8700GTS"
Yeah, I have the new BFG 8800GTS OC 512MB which has the new G92 core, it even beats the 8800GTX/Ultra in games like Crysis on stock :) .

No it doesnt. the clocks are slower even with the smaller nm size and less heat and power.
still a good card.
Re: G92 Details Announced "8700GTS"
Was wrong about it beating the 8800 Ultra, but it easily beats the 8800GTX : http://www.legitreviews.com/article/610/10/

My BFG 8800GTS 512MB G92 OC has the same stock clock as that @ 678MHz, and stock overclocked memory as well :) . Most new 8800GTS G92 cards have a core clock of 650MHz, so that's why they may not be as good as the GTX in some benchmarks. Remember though that the 8800 Ultra is at least an extra £100-150 on top of what I paid for my 8800GTS G92, not really worth it for an extra 3fps.
