I already have decent 5.1 surround sound Creative speakers, a Logitech G5 (v2), a Samsung SyncMaster 913N (to be upgraded next year) and a Medusa 5.1 surround sound headset so none of that had to be ordered.
All of this set me back about £1,300 and was ordered from a mixture of Ebuyer, Overclockers and Kustom PCs. NB, I have been saving up for this PC for at least 1 and a half years so this was definitely not a spur of the moment-type purchase.
Here are some pictures of the components above:

*Please note, the cat was not included ;) *
Anyway, I will be building this some time over the next few days and this will be a very welcome change from my ageing P4 3GHz with 1GB RAM and an Nvidia 6800GS. Also, as the people on TS will already know, the new G15 is 100% awesome for people who don't have a massive amount of space for their keyboard (which the old G15 required). I am planning to overclock the Q6600 from 2.4GHz to 3.0GHz which should be fairly easy because it is a G0 stepping version.

Re: Chalex4's New PC
awesome and good to see you got the new 65/55nm cards and not the old ones.
the only thing I would have said is that maximus board is quite old.

Re: Chalex4's New PC
TV card seems a bit pointless though with a new PC, I'd have waited a little while before putting that in.
Will be ordering my 600 quid quadcore this week....!!!! (Whole shebang, not just the processor, we arent all col mitch).

Re: Chalex4's New PC
Tv card pointless?!!!?/!!
just get out, go on right now!
hehe
but on a serious note I use my one every single day on my dual screen for freeview tv and I got rid of my tv.
thats why im going to have to get a 3rd screen.

Re: Chalex4's New PC

Re: Chalex4's New PC
Wat would you recommend: building my own PC for about £600 or buying a Dell XPS?
-
Re: Chalex4's New PC
Build your own ffs. Dell XPS can't be upgraded easily as they build them oddly. Plus building your own is much cheaper.
-
Re: Chalex4's New PC
exactly what Hutch said, i can build a decent one for you, do you need a mouse/jeyboard etc and monitor and speakers, also what do you prefer Intel/AMD and ATI/Nvidia

Re: Chalex4's New PC
Lets not go into the realms of the birminham blackmarket here.
How many boxes did all this hot stuff come in Alex?
-
Re: Chalex4's New PC
Don't get too excited Hardie, I've already got the help of Midge.
How much for the cat?

Re: Chalex4's New PC

oh and it woul dof came from Novatech, OCUK and Ebuyer

Re: Chalex4's New PC
I know that more 45nm processors are coming out early next year, but I wouldn't have had much time to build a new PC then and since the Q6600 was so cheap I can always upgrade it some time next year if I want to. I especially bought an X38 chipset motherboard because it supports PCI-E 2.0 and 45nm processors. All the stuff came in about 4 huge boxes full of plastic shock absorbers. I ordered it on Sunday afternoon with next day delivery.
Building your own PC is always going to save you money if you buy from the right places, but make sure you know how to build a PC before you spend loads of money on the components.
