PCGamer has a big preview of WAR.
Well, the title says it all, but I'd thought i'd give a few of the main points just to be nice ;)
It's also been fleshed out a bit by other stuff i've read/watched etc...
- The graphical style matches the little plastic models, some might claim it looks a more realistic version of WoW, the guy from Mythic subtly points out that Blizzard has been copying Games Workshop for years (Warcraft 3 had a line by the Gryphon Riders that tongue-in-cheeks acknowledges it "My warhammer cost forty K, heh") and that they've had this slightly cartoony style for 25 years.
- It's dark as warhammer is, that is to say, DARK AND GRIM. But also very very funny, kinda like Kotor with HK-47. Dwarven corpses in Orc (Not Orks, there are no c's in the future, ONLY WAR!) regions have beards for example.
- We're not all going to look like clones, huzzah! You can put adornments on your armour like still beating hearts or skulls or (for silly goodies) articles of faith. Though i'm a little suspicious of this, there will probably be one or two UBER RARE ones that -everyone- gets and we'll still all be huge clones.
- Collisions detection, so badguys can't walk through the tank right to your squishy mage.
- Public Quests, you walk into an area, automatically get the quest, and just run around doing it, no need to find a party (folks are also doing it around you!) complete it and get shiny rewards depending on how much you helped, so it's not just for you, it's for everyone to have a group hug in!
- RvR, realm versus realm, the huge scale conflict going on, everything you do helps the war effort, at high levels you can ransack the enemy capital city and laugh in their faces. This goes on over weeks at a time and the better your side is doing, the more adorned and uber your own capital city becomes and this unlocks new merchants and new dungeons etc etc.
- All the usual jazz, tradeskills, PvP arena's, raids etc etc but less grinding boredom as everything you do has a purpose beyond self-improvement.
Hope that helps, also, if you want to whine about "WoW is better!" or "WoW will do this and that as well!" or even "Mwah WoW!" in any shape or form, Will you kindly fuck off.

Re: PCGamer has a big preview of WAR.
Collision dection is going to be very nice to have in a proper PvP enviroment but will create so many funny bug's.
cannot wait!
Re: PCGamer has a big preview of WAR.
Ive put up some scans of the article so that you can read it for yourselves. Its more about redefining the MMO more than anything else.
Re: PCGamer has a big preview of WAR.
Except Sid's bit, which doesn't give anything new, but is good for little facts. :)
Re: PCGamer has a big preview of WAR.
Just cant wait for this WoW beater, looks awesome.
Re: PCGamer has a big preview of WAR.
We will see if thats the case when it comes out.
Re: PCGamer has a big preview of WAR.
Guild Wars already had collision detection, and it was very widely used. Lag tends to screw it up though, when you think you're past an enemy bodyblock but then rubberband back to where you started on 1 health and about to die.
I'll look cool though. I especially like the idea of ALL OUT WARFARE. I can see it now:
'Ten years ago, a crack commando unit was sent to hang by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the whatever the Chaos capital city is called's underground. Today, still wanted by the raven god, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The ATK-Team.'
