I agree the CoD4 server isn't used, but I don't think we really need a L4D server. I mean, the matchmaking works fine and we would have to make it private and join from the server browser.
I think it's a great idea. Could we also get a cod5 server?
l4d dedi servers are really overloaded. They need more third party servers. We might be able to use them privately too, which could help.
and hosting local really isn't fun. It's kind of laggy.
I can host locally fine, I have a 20MB connection, works perfectly when we play, never have to use a dedicated server. Infact once, I had a dedicated server running with 4 people playing, while I hosted a local server for us to play on.
Not all of us are graced with your connection speed. At work we only get 7 meg with business broadband and we are 100 metres from the exchange, and at home i get jsut over 4.
Voted yes, because even though I have neither game, I'd love to see some new people in ATK.
We used to have a 2MB connection, but Virgin upgraded it to 10MB and then again to 20MB for free :D. Though we rarely get 20MB, it's more like 10MB most of the time, but it's meant to be 20. Can't complain though.

I see mass of zombies, coming for a group of people with no weapons, and you have a limited arsenal of weapons and ammo to use.

I say yes to L4D.. my only question is, has Valve given a function that passwords it's for survivors, but not for zombies. Have 4 ATK survivors playing and any random jerk to pwn and annoy as a zombie. :P

to answer whoevers question, yes i do have left 4 dead. and to counter orics point, while the cod4 server may be more technically pointful, itys never got anyone platying it and u cant play cod4 with jsut a couple of people, where as thats the whole point of left4dead really :)

I have played the Left 4 Dead demo, and I must say it is definitely a fun game to play.
Since the COD4 server is hardly ever in use, it would be wise to replace it with a server for this game instead. However, since the full game isn't even out yet, we will wait for it to be released before making any final decisions. Especially because we may want a "Versus" server where people can play as the infected too, and I have no idea how many slots would be best for that.

I have talked to Direct Clan Hosting today and they have agreed to setup 2 separate Left 4 Dead servers in place of the 26 slot CoD4 server. The servers will be public, 8 slots each, and running in versus mode.
He has also let me know that they should be up and running today, so that is awesome.
