The ATK film brain storming thread.

First off, apologies if anyone's a twat and is offended by the politically incorrect title.

Well, some of us here, and especially Chalex, really really want to make some sort of ATK film, filmed in CSS, Garry's Mod, TF2, etc. The only problem is, quite importantly, that we don't know what the film will be about. So, any ideas, settings, plots, characters, jokes, songs, editing techniques, fancy camera shots or film parodies you can think of, post them here. Think about how they could be relevant to ATK, original and funny. Now get thinking!

Well you see... me and Squirrel are fighting in the GREAT BADGER WARS.

It starts in the battle of Boe Pete's cabbage field with me and him by ourselves taking out a vicious platoon of badger assassins (backed up with batgons dropping bombs on us...) guarding the tractor, from the tractor we watch as everyone dies around us, I give out an *epic* yell and go "CHAAAARGE!" and lunge straight for the barn. Andrew is dragged to death is death by a horde of Badgers and i'm surronded, fighting them all off single handed, JUST THEN! reinforcements arrive in the form of a group of angry turnip farmers and they fight the damned buggers off, but i'm dead of course for epic value.

It's a documentary though, since it happened... hrmm...

Wizard of OZ (not my backwards indie idea). A heavy can be dorothy, and they are journeying to the half-life 2 citadel. Scarecrow can be a sniper, Lion can be a soldier and Tinman can be a medic (wants a heart, gettit?). Wizard can be a combine advisor. Witches could be pyros, with their fire magic... but speak with subtitles. The yappy dog thing can be a css turtle model. Hmm, flying monkeys... dumb navy seal CTs, jumping off a building (cs_assault) to their deaths.#

Crappy idea i know. You tools can come up with better plans.

Well I think we could do a parody of The Italian Job, car chase scenes would be kewl, which also involves a Jam factory (Jew Aids Margh, etc.). We'll have to get some skinning done, If we want to include ourselves, or do an animation using the ATK caricatures. In terms of film editing Chalex and I should try to do effects like applying Photoshop filters to every single frame of a clip, which would improve the quality of the film greatly rather than just using the bog standard original clip.

Maybe a James bond Rip-off ???

That'd be good, some big baddie could be moving drugs to another country by hiding them in pots of jam, we're also sort of baddies and we try and steal them, where The Italian Job parody could come in, and then there's a useless James Bond character who's trying to put down the Big bad guy's plans or summat, but just cocks up completely.

Good idea? Can anyone add to that?

EDIT: Some sort of 300 spoof has to be included.

Well, we could have some kinda time warp thing.. and we could use DoDs? And a scene where someone like Hutch gets stuck in the Admin Sanctuary in CSS xD

I reckon, right, that we should do an epic story about love, war, peace, friendship, the nature of justice, the labours of man, the nobility with which we must all accept our fates and JAM.

James Bond sounds good if we can't do what I said.

Maybe have a spy for tf2 as James bond and a bad guy stroking a company cube maybe?

No, the Companion Cube falls from the sky and kills a badguy. All his minions edge away from the cube and ran in terror!

Then Bloo comes along and jumps on the companion cube going "Yay! Well done Cubert, have a shiny penny!"
(Or Bloo can lead an army of those HL2 garden gnomes)

Also, using the DODS as someone suggested we could have a COD4 stylee flashback scene, but with hilarity and nazi jokes! And you know how there is noone in portal, but loads of PCs, you could have a joke that they've all been playing wow for so long that they've just rotted away.

Can we have a joke about not have breaking benjamin music anywhere in it... for instance it starts and then theres just a yell of "Turn that shit off", then drowning pool "bodies" starts and another yell. MARGH SHITTY MUSIC THAT GETS USED TOO OFTEN.

ASS! Admin Super Squad, they're the main characters and the movie details there exploits in an attempt to stop the Third Internet War, or www. War 3!

Err, well music wise, I suggest we just use film/game music because:

a) It's better and b) Because it's easier to agree on which track to pick.

Also, we dont want a film dominated by BB, Cobra Starship, FallOutBoy or P!ATD.
I've got the Kill Bill soundtrack which is awesome for fightscenes and flashbacks. Also got a high quality version of the entire Orange Box soundtrack, not something crappily ripped from the game.

We will use some game music, I know some pieces that will work well. In terms of normal music, we should use songs that are relevant to what's happening, rather than just filling it with song genres we like as per usual or heavy metal just because the viewers will want to hear it.

My suggestion is that the opening title theme is the COD4 one after the Cargoship mission buut, it cuts out halfway through and Concrete Donkey lands on the title. Yes, I'm trying to make as many donkey referances as possible.

Great ideas so far guys. I agree with Chazlene that we should use relevant music for the situation, but I definitely think that using film/game music would be a much better idea than normal CD tracks (i.e. BB).

Guys you're doing this all wrong

It needs to be serious. I can imagine it now:

We start off with a scene of a guy under heavy fire hiding behind an obstacle (ie a spy getting shot at by a few heavies and soldiers). He pulls out his secret watch and escapes off.

Then we cut to a scene of two people making out. I suggest we use Oric and Hutch to voice act them.

Meanwhile we can see our spy as a faint outline creeping away from the heavy fire. We resume with a flashback to his youth, when he saw his entire family brutally murdered by fat russians with chainguns.

We then cut back to the make-out couple. Let's get some proper smooching noises as well.

We see the spy creep around the squad that were shooting at him. We see him pick a disguise and decloak. Cut to a scene of him in a helicopter jumping out to infiltrate enemy lines (hydro would be a good map). One of the helicopter pilots has a Mexican accent.

Cut bake to the make-out couple.

We then see the protaganist creep up to the baddies, and just as he is about to backstab them all, the guys making out stop and shoot him.

Brilliant idea isn't it?

Spawn, you have a long and sucessful career in the indie film industry ahead of you :p

WAIT WAIT WAIT. I HAVE BEEN STRUCK BY A BOLT OF GENIUS.

We need to do a cop thriller. A tough, grizzled black cop (Chaz fits the bill perfectly) gets teamed with a new cop who's fresh out of training.

Where did I say BB would be used? Last I checked, only Half a BB song was used in a ATK/C2G/BRS video.

That's not the point, just don't go and say only you are choosing music - you just want to do it to show off and it's unfair on everyone else.

No, It's because since BRS, I have always done the music choices.

That doesn't mean anything Marcus, and since BRS you haven't made all the music choices. It's obvious you just want to do it so there's only music you like in the video and to show off.

THAT IS BRILLIANT. Having companion cubes instead of women would be awesome (maybe a joke about us being nerds and making love to cubes rather than real people). Rather than Bloo singing it, (he said he can't keep a high pitched voice up for long) Spawn or someone could just remix the original to make it sound more James Bond-like.

If we use the TF2 spy for the James Bond character, then he should throw away the TF2 revolver, so we can use the line 'I prefer the five-seven'.

I wont be able to do any voice acting but could i maybe move a character in the film.

Thought you could remix the Portal and Goldeneye songs together, or use the TF2 tunes.

There could be a part of the film where someone says something like "everyone knows God doesn't exist", then someone replies "shh!! every time you say that a vicar kicks a kitten out of the window!". It would then cut to a scene of a small church, with a vicar inside with loads of kittens everywhere and some listening equipment, you get the idea...

Good ol' gunfight - Filmed in CS:S / CoD4?

Car Chase - Filmed in BF2

Murder of Companion cube - Filmed in Portal when the companion cube gets incinerated.

Person trying to save Companion cube goes loco and blows the world up with a nuke - Filmed in Garry's Mod using a nuke mod.


Just a quick idea... It can be worked on quite a bit XD
They're all just suggestions, so it can be changed

That actually sounds like quite a cool mini film.
