    Hardware Upgrade.

Hi, just upgraded mah hardware since i really had junk in my pc >P

    but anyway i got

    P5Q Pro motherboard http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...69&modelmenu=1

And an Intel Core 2 duo E8400 processor

    me like >)

Some editing, i noticed the last few days that the heat of the core is staying the same, core 1 at 43-45, and core 2 at 35-37, i got this badboy cooling it down , i touched the heatsink its hardly warm at all so is that good or what ?

    Re: Hardware Upgrade.

It means your have a really uneven surface on the HS or the screw's/ clips are not properly adjusted.

Or theres too much/too little thermal paste and not in the right area's.

Nice upgrade, great CPU for gaming. I need a new CPU, I think my E6400 is bottlenecking my GTX280 somewhat. But i'm gonna wait for Nehalem anyway.

weird that one core is so badly above the other as the cpu usage wont affect that stupidly probably the program reporting this is bad.

As long as it doesn't go over 60C load you'll be fine .

I wouldn't worry TBH, it takes time for the thermal paste to set properly anyway.

    Re: Hardware Upgrade.

It is common that the curvature of the heatsink or processor is uneven, causing those varying temperatures between the 2 cores. For some reason, some seem to be a lot worse than others. I have got a few games open as well a tonne of programs, and my Q6600 (@ 3.0GHz) is running at 36,33,33,35 from core0 to core3.

If you are worried about the varying temps (which I would be if I wanted to overclock), it may be worth lapping the heatsink and CPU with a variety of sandpaper. In fact, would you mind telling me how you applied the thermal paste, and what type it is? You should have followed the arctic silver technique which says put a very thin line vertically across the cores - instructions. If you manually spread it with a card or your finger, that may well be why the temps are so different.

Other than that, nice setup .

yeah thermal paste was even all on the processor, but i went in a game but either of the cores goes over 44, but heatsink is bit well warmer now, and i do not overclock, simply because im not experienced with that and i dont think i need it

    Re: Hardware Upgrade.

Its the program your using, stop using it and just read the bios temp's which are going to be more reliable than the joke your using now.
