Well, i have been talking to chalex and he said that buying 2 4890s is a bad idea and recommended a GTX 285, but what dose everyone else think?
2 X 4890's
OR
1 X 285

I my opinion 1 card will always serve you better than 2, and will make your life easier.
So yeah, I would go with the 285 or if you are really set on 2 cards and ultimate performance and money is no object get the 295. Then you can get a BFG card too with the best warranty and customer service known to man .

With new games though, 2 Gcards shouldn't cause too much of a problem, other than possibly not having enough PSU connectors on a crappy PSU, but adaptors can solve that problem, although it will look a bit messy.
Arent the gtx 295's ludicrously expensive?
the 4890 are less than £200 each.
also dont say i dont want 2 gfx cards im gunna get a 4870x2, it is 2 cards jsut on 1 board :P
2 4890's will outperform a 4870x2, but will cost more i believe. 2 4890's will outperform a gtx 285 (i believe the 285 is a single gpu card, is it not?).
285 is a single GPU, but then again the 285 is way cheaper than 2x4890.

and a gtx 285 is like £260, whereas 1 4890 is about £180 i think. For the % differnce a 285 isnt teh same value for money as a single 4890, though i suppose by that card 2 4890's probably are the lease value for money out of those 2. For value for money a 4870x2 is probably where its at, but then again if u want a lolpower pc its not about the cost within reason, and if uve got under £400 for gfx cards id say 2 x 4890 would be the best option if u want the best for the money

2x 4890s are about the same price as a GTX285, unless you manage to get the 285 mega cheap.
2x 4890s would be good, I would suggest a 4870x2 then get another when prices fall, but there isn't much gain in TriFire or QuadFire, only if your at 2560xlol res.
The thing is that I've heard a new generation is going to be released in September/October time, so I wouldn't be so sure about investing really heavily in today's technology.

Yeah, new cards will be £lol, even for the ATI ones, although ATI will drop prices quicker than nVidia.
