Honestly try it yourself... look at Vox, my Photoshop apprentice, when he came here he was pretty awful (no offence Vox), but after only a few weeks he was churning out some nice sigs, and now is doing some of the design for the site with me.
Do you have Photoshop? If so then check out www.good-tutorials.com.

+1 for good-tutorials, you'd be surprised how quickly you improve.

Chaz, your new sig is epic sick. You gotta show me how to do that! The moderator and www.atkcommunity.com text kinda spoils it though.

Cheers, yeah it looked a bit empty without the extra text... and it'll take ages to explain what I did, I was making it up as I went along.
Basically the background was done using the halftone pixelate with quick mask... and the text I mucked about with a metallic gradient and added a chunky drop shadow. I'll explain fully at i37.

i know its crap but it took me a life time.
When you save as a jpeg, make sure the quality is set to maximum
