Taking MMO's in a new direction - Love

Love is a new style of mmo from Eskil Steenberg, a 1-man indie developer, which is said to be "an MMO that focuses on people playing together rather than just in the same world as each other". Each server consists of about 200 players, who exist in a sandbox world which is theirs to build and destroy in. The game is currently in a pre-alpha stage but there is a good developer walkthrough and trailer which will explain more about the game than me trying to describe it here.

You won’t be told a story, but you will get to live one. It’s not what is given to you, it’s what you do when you hold it. The more you give, the more you get. Love your planet, and everyone who’s on it. We know you can, so just go for it. It’s the right thing to do, and you know it.

For anyone who likes sandbox games which let you build anything you can imagine, this is definately a game to keep a keen eye on. The graphic style is refreshingly different and suits the premise of the game well.

I think this game looks like a breath of fresh air, and I love the funky graphics too.

Well done I say to the 1 man band!

It's an interesting concept, but will be subjected to the Garry's Mod problem - people will subscribe with the sole intention of destroying stuff. Plus, if a world goes inactive, you've got a couple guys trying to sustain a massive world.

I believe you can only change the world within your settlement area, so if your intention is to destroy stuff then you are only destroying yourself .

I think you can set up your settlement area inside other people's settlement area. That's how the whole 'community building' idea works. I'm sure he's going to find a solution to that though.
