Whats the difference between general desktop graphics and 3D gaming graphics?

Whats the difference between general desktop graphics and 3D gaming graphics?
On my new PC, the sub score for the vista aero glass interface isnt to good but the 3D graphics rating is ok, so im just wondering what is the difference, and if possible how to improve the general desktop graphics.

There is a difference but its nothing important.

The windows scoring system is simply awfual anyway and it means nothing. ignore it.

Oric, don't be a dick. DK is right, if you are going to be a dick and post lmgtfy when a new member asks a valid question, at least do it properly and type in the question. It's 'Let ME google that for you', not 'Let me link you to google so you can google it for yourself'. If you just link him to it, might as well just link him to Google.com.

@ danielcrockp, welcome to the forum, ignore the Windows scoring system as Mitch said. When you're in desktop mode your graphics card underclocks itself to save power. When you load up a 3D game or program, it goes back up to its proper speed.

Basically, the Desktop Graphics is, as Phantom stated, the low-power graphics level that I used to run the PC on the desktop (outside of a fullscreen application such as a game)

The Gaming graphics is how well the PC runs a full screen application which taxes the card above normal idle power levels.

Oh, and welcome to the community - feel free to stick around.
