What is Helix?
Helix Gaming is the competitive side of the ATK Community, providing members with the opportunity to be part of a team with the purpose of entering competitive tournaments in both online tournaments as well as establishing a presence at LAN events, such as the Insomnia events. In this regard, it is separate from ATK, as ATK focuses on casual play and fun tournaments. However, Helix remains a part of ATK, being managed by the ATK Management structure and utilising ATK’s facilities to organise training, matches and organisation.
How is Helix Structured?
Helix has three command level structures - coordinators, Team Captains and Team Members
Coordinators: When relating to other teams, this level represents the ownership and management of the group. At present, there are two coordinator positions, the server coordinator and the clan coordinator.
The server coordinator role (held by ATK’s Technical Manager, a role currently split between Calneon and Katakuna), relates to the area of ensuring that all teams have the necessary servers and technical aids in order to practice and to hold matches effectively. If there is a problem with the server, or a team needs something fixing, these are your guys!
The clan coordinator role (held by ATK’s Gaming Manager, a role currently held by Oricalcos), helps to oversee the operations and growth of Helix Gaming as an entity. This role is responsible for approving the creation of teams, appointing team captains (where appropriate), ensuring that teams are active and operating correctly, and to address any problems that teams are having. The clan coordinator has the power to change a teams status and to alter team captains, given team members approval. What the clan coordinator cannot do is make roster decisions for each team or explicitly recruit for a team i.e. over-rule a team captains decisions.
The ATK Manager, currently Moeshi, does not have an official role as a coordinator, but is reported to by the Gaming Manager as part of the Management Meetings in order to keep him informed of the progress of Helix.
Team Captains: As expected, Team Captains are responsible for leading the team, as well as organising training, entering tournaments and recruitment. Team captains have the authority to alter the teams starting line-up. They also have the authority to remove players from a team, but it must be for a legitimate reason, such as poor play, not showing up to training, behaviour detrimental to the team etc. As a rule, the clan co-rdinator should be consulted before a player is removed.
Team Members: Team members are responsible for turning up to practice and be available for matches as arranged by the Captain. If a majority of the team believe that the Captain is not acting in a way that is beneficial to the team, then they may approach the clan coordinator to resolve problems

How do I apply to start/join a team?
To join a team, simply send a private message of enquiry to the team captain, who will process your application. As detailed above, they have the final decision on rosters, so messaging coordinators will is not necessary.
To start a team, please message the clan coordinator who will discuss the application. Please be prepared to give your main aims for the team, assurances of recruiting and a training schedule to begin upon team creation.
