Right, I'm kind of fed up with this. We should be more active on IRC because we have quite a well set up IRC channel. We will lose our channel soon if activity does not increase.
By using IRC we can direct new members to the channel while chatting on other IRC channels and coax them into the community. Also IRC is cool, it means you can leave little messages and someone will always see them, it also doesn't lag your PC. Chatzilla is a good plugin for firefox, it means you can use IRC within firefox.
From our IRC page:
Server: irc.quakenet.org
Channel: #atkcommunity
Port: 6667
To join the server you can either:
1) Click here to launch your IRC client and automatically join our channel
2) Click here to launch the Java version of IRC though this website (you must enable Java in your browser)
** It works best if you are logged into the forum **
About IRC / mIRC
IRC stands for "Internet Relay Chat". It was originally written by Jarkko Oikarinen in 1988. Since starting in Finland, it has been used in over 60 countries around the world. IRC is a multi-user chat system, where people meet on "channels" (rooms, virtual places, usually with a certain topic of conversation) to talk in groups, or privately. There is no restriction to the number of people that can participate in a given discussion, or the number of channels that can be formed on IRC.
The official QuakeNet website can be found here. It would be useful to learn how to register and join channels.
