World In Conflict is a Stratagy Game published by "Sierra". Its based arround modern times in a war situation where the USSR invades the USA. From a first impression, the game is simply stunning. The improvment from beta to demo is amazing and can now be played at very decent framerates with a high setting on even a lower speced machine.
DEMO FEATURES:
One single player campain: A mission based in a small town on the USA coast line. You are "Parker" and you will command infantry to help wipe out the USSR's forces who have a strong hold on the town.
After playing completing the single player mission the only thing I could say about it was "EPIC". It took me first time round about 50 mins to complete and was at the tip of my seat the entire game.
Multiplayer Mode: The multiplayer mode takes place in the same map as the single player mission. There are two teams, USSR and USA. Once you start you choose what side you would like to play, you then have to select what specialist you would like to go.
There are 4 types in WiC, Infintary, Armour, Air and Support. Each class can use other classes vehicles but each class has there own "special" units and reduced cost.
Infintary speaks for itself, you have paratroopers, anti-tank troops, snipers, demo-troops, troop transports etc.
Armour again is a obvious one, you are the tank specialist, your main units is the heavy tank, but can also get medium tanks, jeeps etc. Basicly if its on four wheels its yours
Air, one again is a obvious one, your special unit is the heavy chopper. Nothing better than bombarding your enemys tanks and watching metal fly 50ft in the air .
Support is my favourite, you are responsible for helping your allies on the battlefield. They get heavy anti air, and Artillary. Fire 1/2 accross the map and blow the shit out of the enemys tank from a safe distance, just watch the enemy doesnt pin you down, cos once your spotted. Your toast
Because of the nature of the game, it forces you to play as a team. Units are weak against other units etc. The heavy tanks for example have no anti-air what so ever. So you need to have some form of support with them for them to stay alive.
Points: Once you wound/damage another enemy troop/vehicle you gain points. These can be spend on support calls like artility from offmap, anti-tank planes, laser guided bombs, repair bridges etc. Where it all leads up to the big points where you can use, fuel air bombs, daisy cutters, carpet bomber and the daddy, Tactical Nuke.
Well I do hope that garble has swayed you to go try the demo, the game is realeased in about 20 days so get ready to tear shit up
